# Home

> Read your organization's AI governance at a glance: what needs you, how compliant your AI systems are, and what your AI traffic is doing.

Home is the first screen after you sign in. It answers three questions: is anything wrong, what do you do next, and how is your organization doing. Every figure opens the screen that holds the detail.

Each part of Home loads on its own. If one part cannot be loaded, it says so in place with **Try again**, and the rest of Home stays.

## The briefing

The top of Home shows the date, a greeting and one sentence: how many things need you, or **Nothing needs you today.** Under it are four figures. Point at a dotted label to see how the figure is worked out.

| Figure | What it counts |
| - | - |
| **Compliance posture** | The share of the requirements for each AI system's risk level that are met, averaged over the AI systems that are not retired. The line beside it is the last score of each month over the past year. See [Posture](/ai-systems/posture). |
| **High risk after controls** | AI systems rated High or Very high once their controls are counted, out of all AI systems not retired, with the number before controls. See [Risk rating](/ai-systems/risk-rating). |
| **Control effectiveness** | The share of the built-in attacks your organization's guardrails caught in their latest [red-team run](/guardrails/red-team). It shows once a run has finished. |
| **Open incidents** | Incidents not resolved, and how many are serious. See [Incidents](/incidents). |

Altrum does not give you one score for risk out of 100. A rating places an AI system within its EU AI Act category, so an average of ratings would not mean anything an auditor could check. The figures above each come from what Altrum records, and each can be explained in one sentence.

In an organization with only the AI Gateway, the first figure is **Traffic in registered AI systems**: the share of this month's requests made with keys attached to an AI system. **Spend this month** takes the place of the risk figure.

## Needs you

The five things you can act on first, each in one sentence with one action. **View all** opens [Alerts](/alerts).

They come in this order: serious incidents, then high alerts, then warnings, then the rest, oldest first within each. Needs you lists:

* your open [alerts](/alerts);
* serious incidents you hold, or on AI systems you own (owners and admins see them all);
* AI systems waiting for approval, for those who may approve them;
* traffic on keys that are not in any AI system, for those who run the AI Gateway (see [Discover](/discover));
* an access review still open, for owners and admins;
* setup steps still to do, such as applying organization guardrails or inviting your team.

An approval that is both an alert and a fact shows once.

## Your work

The AI systems you own with their posture, the assessments you started or hold, and the incidents you hold. It is left out when you have none, and Needs you takes the full width. For a person with the **Member** role, Your work comes first.

## Portfolio

Every AI system not retired, as a portfolio:

* **Risk**: how many AI systems are at each level as rated, and on a thinner bar once their controls count. Select a part of the bar to see those AI systems.
* **EU AI Act**: how many AI systems are in each category.
* **Lifecycle**: how many AI systems are in Draft, In review, Approved and Live, and the one that has waited longest in review. See [Lifecycle](/ai-systems/lifecycle).

Members see the portfolio read only.

## AI traffic

Spend, requests and violations through the [AI Gateway](/ai-gateway/overview), for owners and admins:

* **Spend**: what requests cost, against your organization's monthly budget, with where the month is heading.
* **Requests**: requests through the AI Gateway, and the share answered.
* **Violations per 1,000 requests**: requests a guardrail fired on, for every 1,000 the guardrails checked.

Each figure has its line by day and its change against the same length of time just before. The busiest AI system, client and guardrail are named under each. This is the only part of Home with a period: **This month** (the default), **30 days** or **This quarter**. The period you choose stays in the page's address.

Without the AI Gateway, the portfolio says that traffic, spend and violations appear there with the AI Gateway.

## Proof

Audit readiness as of today, for owners and admins:

* **Traffic in registered AI systems** and **Traffic guarded**, with how many keys have no guardrails of their own. See [Discover](/discover#coverage).
* **Access review**: the review still open, or the last one completed. See [Access reviews](/access-reviews).
* Without the AI Gateway: **Assessments current** and **Went Live with an approval**.

**Prepare an audit pack** opens [Compliance](/compliance), where you print or export the evidence for one AI system or your organization. In an organization without governance, the button opens the [Audit trail](/audit-trail).

## A new organization

Until your organization has its first AI system or its first request through the AI Gateway, Home shows **Set up Altrum** in place of the sections, with the steps that apply to you:

1. **Register your first AI system**: answer seven questions and Altrum suggests its risk level.
2. **Add a provider credential**, so the AI Gateway can reach your model providers.
3. **Create a key** for your applications and people.
4. **Apply organization guardrails** to every request and reply that has no AI system of its own.
5. **Invite your team**.

After that, any step still to do becomes a row in Needs you.
